1- Murder of the Black Dahlia (1947): a young woman named Elizabeth Short is found brutally murdered and dismembered in Los Angeles. Despite extensive investigations and media coverage, her killer has not been caught.
2- Zodiac Killer (1968-1974): a serial killer who operated in Northern California during this time period, mocking law enforcement with encryption and letters sent to newspapers. Although many suspects have been identified over the years, the identity of the Zodiac killer remains unknown.
3- The West Memphis Three (1993): three teenagers are convicted of murdering three younger boys in what has become known as the "West Memphis Three"case. However doubts about their guilt still remain and they were released from prison after serving almost 20 years due to new DNA evidence.
4- The murder of johnben ocht Ramsey (1996): six-year-old beauty queen johnben ocht Ramsey is found dead at her family's home in Boulder Colorado. Her parents were initially suspected of involvement in her death but were eventually cleared but her killer was never found.
5- Green River Killer (1982-1998): Gary Ridgway, also known as the Green River Killer, confessed to killing 49 women in Washington state between 1982 and 1998. He was later linked to dozens of other victims making him one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history. However there are still many unresolved cases that are believed to be related to his outburst.
6- Golden State Killer (1974-1986): also known as the Eastern District rapist and the Original Night Stalker This individual has committed numerous rapes and murders throughout California during this time period. In 2018 Joseph James DeAngelo was arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. However there are still many unsolved rape cases that are attributed to the same perpetrator.
7- Delphi murders (2017): two teenage girls, Abby Williams and Libby German, went for a walk near their hometown of Delphi Indiana, and never returned. Their bodies were discovered the next day, along with chilling audio recordings captured on Libby's phone that captured the voice of their killer. Despite the intensive investigation and widespread publicity, the killer is still at large.
8- Oakland County child killer (1976-1977): four children were abducted and murdered in Michigan during this time period. Several suspects have been named over the years but none have been conclusively linked to the crimes.
9- Long Island Serial Killer (1996-2010): ten mostly prostitute bodies were discovered buried on Long Island between 1996 and 2010. Police believe these murders may be the work of a single serial killer, but despite extensive investigations, no arrests have been made.
10- The Alphabet Murders (1971-1973): three young girls were kidnapped and murdered in Rochester New York, during this time period. The name of each girl began with a different letter of the alphabet, which led to speculation that the killer chose his victims according to a certain pattern. While several suspects have been considered the killer remains unknown.
